ELDER LAW AND ESTATE PLANNING FIRM
SERVING BOTH GEORGIA AND NORTH CAROLINA
Attorney Keith R. Miles began his legal career receiving his JD from The University of Maryland School of Law in 1995. He immediately sat for the New York State Bar exam and passed his first attempt. He was admitted in May 1996.
Mr. Miles worked in Manhattan in the tax field for accounting firms Edward Isaacs and Company and PricewaterhouseCoopers. He then moved to Merrill Lynch to work in their Global Tax Department.
In 2004 he came to Georgia, attended the 11-month MBA program being awarded Beta Gamma Sigma. He worked for Alvarez and Marsal in their Tax Advisory Practice. He moved to the Tax Department Cingular Wireless (later becoming AT&T).
In 2006 he was married. In 2008, he began The Law Office of Keith R. Miles, LLC. His first wife was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer later that year and passed away in June 2009. During that six month period, Keith did his wife’s estate plan for her four sons (one which they shared together) which included trusts. In particular, a special needs trust for a son who has autism.
Due to his own life experiences, Keith switched his practice to Estate Planning and Elder Law in 2009. Since that time, he has been practicing while studying and learning constantly about these areas that are far more complicated than many potential clients can imagine.
He is a member of the Estate Planning Council of North Georgia, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and sits on the Board of the Elder Law Section of the Atlanta Bar Association.
In 2023, Attorney Keith R. Miles was Certified as an Elder Law Attorney (“CELA”) by the National Elder Law Foundation. The National Elder Law Foundation (NELF) is the only national organization accredited by the American Bar Association (ABA) to certify practitioners of elder and special needs law.
There are slightly over 500 CELAs across the entire country and only 12 CELAs in the State of Georgia.
